I didn’t have high hopes for Sevilla: another Spanish Pueblo with cathedrals and tapas… I've had my fill. Boy was I wrong.
Day 1: Madrid to Sevilla
Iremos a Sevilla? Pues hablaremos español todo del tiempo, claro que si! Hasta… about an hour in to our 5 hour car ride. The Sierra de Gredos Determination was not there apparently.
Early morning Saturday drive in a rental car I’m pretty sure I’m not allowed to legally drive. They rented it to me anyway! TIE expired about 6 months ago but Europcar da igual.
I also opted to save the €30 and not add any additional drivers. So naturally, when my friend took the wheel, and we just had to stop for McDonalds, there was a speed trap set up. 110 in a 80. So we get pulled over, and we’re not the only ones. We see like 12 people get stopped in the 10 minutes we’re sitting there. I’m sitting shotgun, praying they don’t ask for the rental contract, or more importantly how long we have been in Spain. My buddy handled it like a pro. We paid €50 on the spot and ya está. The cop asked us: "What are you doing in Spain? The sites or the girls?" My brother, those are the same thing.
We arrive in Sevilla in our huge rental car. Handle the corridor like roads about as well as you’d imagine. Luckily to the parking garage was the only driving we’d be doing in Sevilla.
Air BnB was clutch. Good locale in a plaza, with a rooftop bar and kebab spot 10 steps away. We'd end up hitting that kebab spot 3 times in 24 hours. Rabo de toro? No, no, durum de pollo, porfa.
Drop the bags and hit the town. Lunch right outside the Alcázar (an accent make has never made me more upset in my entire life. Still can’t pronounce it). Posted up for afternoon tapas and sobre mesa. That’s all the Spanish we need.
We take a stroll to the river for sunset and enjoy a proper body of water in major Spanish city. Madrid could learn a thing or two. We scope a river walk bar and spend the next calories there.
Christmas time in Sevilla means Christmas lights! We stroll through the city in our adventure towards Plaza de España.
The sun has beyond set at this point. And the sheer grandeur of Plaza de España en Sevilla is still very apparent. Our Plaza de España en Madrid is not even close to the same level of lujo. Otra cosa Madrid needs to learn.
Long day tomorrow, so we cap with some kebabs and retire.

Day 2: Alcázar and Plaza de España
Early morning Alcázar tix. We’re out the door with coffee, napolitanos, and passports (or if you’re me, green tea and empanadas).
Alcázar is sick! One of the only royal residences still in active use, so the royalty actually reside in the buildings. It’s also a UNESCO world heritage site, so you know it’s gotta be cool.
The entire place was littered with cool tiles. Connie’s dream.
The gardens were pristine as expected, and had a fun surprise: pavo reales! Peacocks. Que Bonita.

Time for the rabo de toro, or bull tail. Very popular, very traditional Sevillan dish. And we had the luck of trying it twice! Because when the first dish came out, we gave a full analysis of our thoughts, tastes, and descriptions. Until the second dish came out and looked a lot more like bull tail than the first. Apparently, the pork cheek looks very similar. So we gave another analysis on Round 2. I thought it was great; I prefer a nice fatty piece of meat. Honestly the bone was kind the coolest part. That thing is thick and spine like, and it was interesting to imagine the strength of a bull tail. And then ya know, I just ate it. Fire.
We continue our tour of the city: Las Setas, Río Guadalquivir, and Plaza de España. Plaza de España during the day, and luckily enough sunset, was absolutely incredible. I am so blown away by my own low expectations.
More kebab. Then rooftop bar, the boys, and some playing cards. Noche tranquila, y ya está.

Day 3: Sevilla to Madrid
5 hours home. Scott drove on the wrong side of the highway for about an hour. Shaved off 40 minutes on our ETA.
What a trip.
